From sun up to sun down, in counties across Region 8, it was a day for making wishes come true.
"Even in times of crisis, I mean we've had a rough couple of weeks, people are opening up their wallet's and giving everything they can," said Triple FM's, Christie Matthews.
More than $208, 478 thousand was donated for the Have-A-Heart, Wish-A-Thon for Make-A-Wish. Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. This year, there were around 30 kids with a wish in Northeast Arkansas.
"Every single child on that list today is going to get their wish granted...and then some," said Matthews.
Emma Wilkins got her wish for a trip to Disney world granted in 2005. She's been back to this all day event ever since. With her, she brings a message of hope.
"Work your hardest, and you can get through it," said Wilkins.
It's a region wide effort that volunteers say exceeds goals every year. Giving children the chance to forget "the bad stuff," and let's them remember what it's like to just be a kid.
