Young Artists Recognized at Kidz Fun Fair

 

Six elementary age youngsters from the Jonesboro area have been recognized as first-place winners in the 2011 Kidz Fun Fair Art Contest. Each received a $50 gift card to Barnes & Noble at the conclusion of the sixth annual Kidz Fun Fair Saturday, Aug. 20, at St. Bernards Auditorium.

 

The contest was held in conjunction with the 2011 Kidz Fun Fair, an event sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation. Top winners in each of grades K through 5 – including first-, second- and third-place winners and honorable mentions – received medals. Theme for the competition was “Wild About Fitness and Learning.”

 

First-place winners were Ali Marsh, kindergarten, whose work was submitted by Jonesboro School of Art; Willem Culpepper, first grade, Foundation of Arts; Charlotte Howard, second grade, Jonesboro School of Art; Quaid Darvis, third grade, Charlott Jones School of Art; Matt Sherman, fourth grade, Charlott Jones School of Art; and Baylee Seeman, fifth grade, Foundation of Arts.

 

Other kindergarten level winners in addition to Marsh were Chris Cooper, second place, Jonesboro School of Art; Madelynn Teat, third place, Jonesboro School of Art; and Linden Mixon, honorable mention, Foundation of Arts.

 

First-grade winners in addition to Culpepper were Mary Sloan Childers, second place, Charlott Jones School of Art; Gabrielle Layton, third place, Foundation of Arts; and Haya Talib, Jonesboro School of Art.

 

Second-grade winners in addition to  Howard were Sam Morris, second place, Charlott Jones School of Art; Hannah Lewis, third place, Valley View Elementary School; and Yibing Hu, honorable mention, Jonesboro School  of Art.

 

Third-grade winners in addition to Darvis were Selah Winn, second place, Foundation of Arts; Mason Webb, third place, Charlott Jones School of Art; and Eva Thompson, honorable mention, Jonesboro School of Art.

 

Fouth -grade winners in addition to Sherman were Lauren Lewis, second place, Valley View; Kally Islas, third place, Foundation of Arts; and Melanie Ferguson, honorable mention, Foundation of Arts.

 

Fifth-grade winners in addition to Seeman were Katilyn Mercado, second place, Visual & Performing Arts School; Lauren Imrie, third place, Jonesboro School of Art; and Clair Pulliam, honorable mention, Foundation of Arts.

 

Kidz Fun Fair is the signature event sponsored annually by the Women’s Advisory Council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation. It’s a free program designed for youngsters in kindergarten through grade 5 and is a fun morning of entertainment and health education for parents and children. This year’s Kidz Fun Fair had an emphasis on the importance of fitness, with the theme being “Wild About Fitness and Learning.
