Nikki Shannon has assumed duties as aquatics coordinator at the new St. Bernards Health & Wellness Institute.
She is responsible for the daily operations of the aquatics department, programs and staffing.
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Health & Human Performance degree from the University of Louisville and a master’s degree in sports administration from Marshall University in her hometown, Huntington, W. Va.
She worked as a college athletics compliance officer for nine years and coached the Riverside Aquatics-US Swim Team in New Albany, Ind. A certified pool operator, she was a collegiate rower and team captain at the University of Louisville. And is a former member of the Auburn Masters Swim team.
She is married to Bubba Shannon who operates Bubba Nix’s catering in Jonesboro.
The St. Bernards Health & Wellness Institute, located on the eastern end of the Matthews Medical Mile at 1416 East Matthews, is a one-of-a-kind medically based wellness center with a unique focus on prevention. Fitness center membership is open to the general public and is unique in that each member undergoes a comprehensive health and risk assessment and receives a personalized exercise prescription.
