St. Bernards Celebrates Season with 'Moments of Remembrance'

St. Bernards Hospice invites the public to participate in its annual Christmas season event, “Moments of Remembrance,” on Thursday, Dec. 8. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernards Auditorium, 505 East Washington, and will last until 1 p.m.

The holiday season can be a difficult time for families who have lost loved ones during the year.  Sharing memories and celebrating the lives of those loved ones can help surviving family members begin to restore the joy of life. “Moments of Remembrance” gives family members a chance to do just that.

Each family is encouraged to bring a Christmas ornament in memory of their loved one, and the hospice staff will attach to each ornament a tag bearing the name of the loved one.  Ornaments will be placed on a Celebration Tree symbolizing the way memories of our loved ones continue to add significance and inspiration to our own lives. The Celebration Tree will remain in a place of honor at throughout the holiday season.

St. Bernards Hospice, established in 1989, provides holistic care of patients with life-limiting illnesses. For 20 years, St. Bernards provided only in-home hospice care, working with family and caregivers. But now, patients also can be cared for at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, a facility designed for patients who, for one reason or another, cannot stay at home for care. The beautiful new free-standing hospice house is located at 1148 East Matthews Ave.
