Representatives from St. Bernards women’s imaging services
will host a “race rally” at The Mall at Turtle Creek Saturday from 10 in the
morning until 3 in the afternoon to register women who want to be a part of the
St. Bernards Pink Warrior team at the 2012 Race for the Cure in Little Rock on
Oct. 20.
Women are not the only ones who can register – men can sign
up to be a part of the St. Bernards 3 Miles of Men contingent at the race which
annually attracts about 40,000 women who run and/or walk in a 5 K through
downtown Little Rock. The event is designed to raise awareness for the fight
against breast cancer as well as money for research, education and treatment.
It celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their
battles with the disease.
This year’s Pink Warrior goal is to surpass the “record”
number of Red Warriors taking part in the race – that means assembling a team
that is more than 700 strong.
Women who are interested in taking part in the race can lend
their support to breast cancer awareness – and to raising money for research,
education and treatment – by walking or running in the event. Those who cannot
make the trip to Little Rock can register as “spririt” runners.
Registration can be accomplished by visiting the race rally
table at center court at the mall, where St. Bernards representatives can take
care of online registration details. All women – or men – will need is a credit
card.
Registration is $26, and those who sign up will receive both
a long-sleeved Komen T-shirt and a short-sleeved Pink Warrior T-shirt. Packets
with the shirts and other race materials will be available for pick-up at the
St. Bernards Imaging Center closer to the time for the race.
