Chris Barber Named Northeast Delegate to Arkansas Hospital Association Board

 

Chris B. Barber, president and chief executive officer of St. Bernards Healthcare, has been named the Northeast Hospital District’s delegate on the Arkansas Hospital Association’s board of directors. He is serving a term that will run through 2015.

A native of Jonesboro, Barber has been on staff at St. Bernards for 20 years, and he has been active in the AHA throughout his tenure. He served as administrator at St. Bernards Medical Center from 2003 through July of 2010, when he was promoted to president and CEO of St. Bernards Healthcare.

Barber holds degrees from the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University and has been active in numerous professional organizations on both the state and national level. In addition, he has devoted a great deal of time to civic and community activities, having served on committees and on the board – including holding the office of chairman – of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce. He also has been active in United Way, Jonesboro Unlimited and served on the board of the Northeast Arkansas Boy Scouts.

Barber holds fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives and earlier this year was elected to the Council of Regents of the ACHE. He serves as president of the board of the Arkansas Health Executives Forum.

In 2005 he received the Arkansas Regent’s senior level award from ACHE.
