The fifth annual St. Bernards Advocates Butterfly Release is scheduled for 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in the east parking lot at the St. Bernards Imaging Center, 1144 East Matthews Ave. Activities will be held near the water features at the side of the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.
The event is designed as a day of celebration and remembrance. Activities will include music, arts and crafts for children and a youth art contest. Winners of the youth art contest will be displayed in the lobby of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in November which is recognized as Hospice Month.
The afternoon will end with the release of hundreds of Monarch butterflies which area residents purchase in honor of or in memory of friends or family.
The event is sponsored by the Advocates, a group of community leaders dedicated to supporting the mission of St. Bernards. Butterflies may be purchased by calling the St. Bernards Development Foundation office at 870-336-5009 or by logging on to the Foundation web site, www.stbernardsfoundation.org. Butterflies will cost $15 each or $135 for 10.
The Advocates will have some butterflies available on the afternoon of the event. Proceeds will benefit the free-standing Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Additional information may be secured by contacting the Foundation office.
