Barry Ledbetter Named to St. Bernards Healthcare Board

 

Barry Ledbetter, president and chief executive officer of Simmons First Bank of Jonesboro, has been named to the St. Bernards Healthcare Governing Board.

Ledbetter holds both a bachelor’s degree in finance and a Master of Business Administration degree from Arkansas State University. In addition, he completed specialized studies at Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

After earning his MBA, Ledbetter went to work at Simmons First Bank of Jonesboro, going through the management trainee program and advancing to loan officer. In December of 1989, he was named a vice president at Simmons. And since that time, he has served as executive vice president, president and president and chief executive officer of the financial institution.

Ledbetter is active in numerous civic and professional organizations and groups. He has been an active member of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Chamber board and on the board’s executive committee. He also serves on the boards of the Jonesboro Economic Development Corporation and Jonesboro Unlimited.

He has been a member of the boards of directors of the United Way of Northeast Arkansas and City Youth Ministries. In addition, he has been a member of the ASU Assist Club and the ASU Indian Club (now the Red Wolf Club), serving on the Indian Club’s board.

A sustaining life member of the ASU Alumni Association, he also serves on the ASU Chancellor’s Cabinet.

Professionally, Ledbetter is a member of the Arkansas Bankers Association and has served on that organization’s board of directors.

He has served as a member and chairman of the St. Bernards Development Foundation board and sits on the board of the McAdams/Frierson Chair of Bank Management at ASU.

St. Bernards Healthcare is the parent corporation under which St. Bernards Medical Center and other related entities operate. St. Bernards Medical Center is a 438-bed not-for-profit acute care hospital which serves as a referral medical center for residents in 23 counties in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri.

Ledbetter and his wife, Kitty, have two children, Anna, 21, and Beth, 16. They are members of Central Baptist Church, where he is a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
