
Twenty-five St. Bernards nurses were recognized recently for their outstanding nursing qualities. Twenty-four were named 2010 Living the Mission award recipients, and one was named Preceptor of the Year.
Living the Mission nursing awards are given annually to nurses nominated by their peers as healthcare providers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to nursing and outstanding patient care. They are honored as nurses who truly live the mission of St. Bernards – providing Christ-like healing to the community through education, treatment and health services.
Living the Mission nurses received certificates and lab coats with the award designation embroidered on the front.
Living the Mission nurses for 2010 include 10 from Jonesboro, three each from Bono and Paragould, two from Leachville and one each from from Bay, Harrisburg, Marked Tree, Senath, Mo., Tuckerman and Walnut Ridge.
Jonesboro nurses include Sushmita Baroi, R.N., who works in the Transitional Care Facility and has been on staff at St. Bernards for two years; Amy Morrison, R.N., Clinical Effectiveness, 10 years; Karen Morrison, R.N., Center for Weight Loss & Diabetes Management, 19 years; Sheri Duncan, R.N., Senior Health Clinic, two years; Beth Wallace, R.N., Hospice, three years; Diane Ellison, L.P.N., Intensive Care Unit, 33 years; Rebecca Cowie, R.N., Education, six years; Rhonda Miles, L.P.N.,3 East, two years; Susan Roltsch, R.N.P., Dialysis, three years; and Mable Prunty, R.N., 5 East, four years.
Bono residents are Kim Inboden, R.N., Gastroenterology Lab, 20 years; Rocio Roades, R.N., 4 East, two years; and Kim Clark, R.N., Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab, 15 years.
Those from Paragould are Patsy Hammon, R.N., 2 East, one year; Laura Sterling, R.N., St. Bernards Behavioral Health, 12 years; and Amanda Thomas, R.N., 3 North, six years.
Leachville residents include Deborah Ladd, R.N., Home Health, 14 years; and Mary Beth Wheeler, R.N., 1 Main, seven years.
Others are Allen Hampton, R.N., Bay, Surgery, 11 years; Shirleen Hedge, L.P.N., Harrisburg, One Day Surgery, four years; Marcia Kelley, R.N., Senath, Mo., 1 East, six years; Tiffany Parker, R.N., Walnut Ridge, 2 North, three years; Bobbie Williams, R.N., Tuckerman, Emergency Department, three years; and Brenda Wright, R.N., Marked Tree, Patient Service Resource Center, 28 years.
Rhonda Hill, R.N., Clinical Effectiveness, was named Preceptor of the Year. This marks the first time that award has been presented, and Hill was selected by the 2009 class of nurse recruits who singled her out as an exceptional role model who facilitates learning, communicates effectively and demonstrates compassion. She worked on a nursing floor prior to a recent change of assignment. She has been employed at St. Bernards for five years.
