Kidz Fun Fair Art Contest Winners

 

Six elementary age youngsters from the Jonesboro area received bicycles after being selected as first-place winners in the 2010 Kidz Fun Fair Art Contest. They received their bikes at the conclusion of the fifth annual Kidz Fun Fair Saturday, Aug. 21, at St. Bernards Auditorium.

 

The contest was held in conjunction with the 2010 Kidz Fun Fair, an event sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation. First place winners in each of six grade levels – K through 5 – received bikes and safety helmets. Entries were displayed at the Kidz Fun Fair.

 

Bicycle winners were Ava Shatley, kindergarten, whose work was submitted by the Charlott Jones School of Art; Taylor Broadway, first grade, Jonesboro School of Art; Reese McMillan, second grade, Valley View Elementary School; Amelia Guinn, third grade, Valley View Elementary School; Izzy Jones, fourth grade, Charlotte Jones School of Art; and Alexis Smith, fifth grade, Jonesboro School of Art.

 

Other kindergarten level winners were Amelia Coleman, second place, Montessori School; Ella Jones, third, Montessori School; and Ali Marsh, honorable mention, Crowley’s Ridge Academy.

 

First grade winners in addition to Broadaway were Natalie Supine, second, Montessori School; Yesica Felipe, third, Hispanic Community Services; and Garner Henderson, honorable mention, Jonesboro School of Art.

 

Second grade winners in addition to  McMillan were Klarice Perkins, second, Math & Science Magnet School; Brooklyn Panneck, third, Foundation of Arts; and Justice Timmons, honorable mention, Foundation of Arts.

 

Third grade winners in addition to Guinn were Tess Jones, second, Charlott Jones School of Art; Abbey Stillwell, third, Foundation of Arts; and Emily McCurry, honorable mention, Brookland Elementary School.

 

Fouth grade winners in addition to Jones were Maggie Xu, second, Charlott Jones School of Art; Carly Mason, third, Valley View Elementary School; and Angel Felipe, honorable mention, Hispanic Community Services.

 

Fifth grade winners in addition to Smith were Lauren Imrie, second, Jonesboro School of Art; Shelby Scriber, third, Jonesboro School of Art; and Destiny White, honorable mention, Math & Science Magnet School.

 

Kidz Fun Fair is the signature event sponsored annually by the Women’s Advisory Council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation. It’s a free program designed for youngsters in kindergarten through grade 5 and is a fun morning of entertainment and health education for parents and children. This year’s Kidz Fun Fair had an emphasis on the importance of fitness, with the theme being “Finding Your Fit.”

 

For the last three years, the Women’s Advisory Council has provided free backpacks with some basic school supplies to help youngsters get off to a good start as the school year begins.

 

This year’s gold sponsors included Children’s Clinic, the City of Jonesboro Advertising and Promotions Commission, Junior Auxiliary of Jonesboro, Merrill Lynch and National Healing.

Silver sponsors were Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fat City Apparel, Jonesboro Radio Group, Ocean Dental, Sharp Office Supply, Ritter Communications, Rotary of Jonesboro and Turner Dairy. Bronze sponsors included Air Evac, Kohl’s, RheaLana, St. Bernards Healthcare Associated Regional Providers (SHARP), Stuck Associates and Sysco.
