What Constitutes a Sleep Disorder?

70 million Americans suffer from some sort of sleep disorder, so if you can't seem
to get a good night's rest and as a result feel tired all the time, you're not alone.
Several characteristics of a sleep disorder include:

  • Insomnia
  • Snoring
  • Sleepwalking
  • Tossing and turning
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness

Any of these symptoms can have physical, mental and emotional effects on your body.
When your body doesn't get the rest it needs to prepare for the next day, you may
experience a decrease in work and school performance, a lack of energy, inability
to concentrate or mood problems. If left untreated, sleep disorders can have a
very serious impact on your health by increasing your risk for:

  • High blood pressure
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Immune system disorders

Signs of Sleep Disorders
